It seems as though our hectic lives become even busier around the holidays. We have shopping lists to check off, events to attend, and gifts to wrap. It is easy to get swept up in this whirlwind, as the days in December fly by. But it is during the holidays that we should take time for our families and for our relationships. That is why Thomas and I agreed that in our first few years of marriage we would begin what we hoped would become traditions that were centered around each other and our family. Most importantly, every year, we make sure to set aside some time in our busy holiday schedules—a weekend or even just an afternoon– to simply be together. This year, our time was spent in each other’s arms in front of the fireplace and its fresh winter greens, with a glass of champagne in our hands. We surrounded ourselves with cozy fur rugs, wool blankets, and plush pillows. We talked and laughed about the year behind us and dreamed about the year ahead. We spent time with the most important person in our lives, our son, Graham. We toasted our many blessings, especially the blessings of Christmas and our love for one another. ” – Amy Plant-Perdue, featured in these photos
