” It has been a tradition on my dad’s side of the family to visit Gull Lake in Nisswa, Minnesota every year since he was born. It had been some time since I had seen my family, and especially my sister who I grew up with side by side. She was my first friend, and I miss her when we are far from each other. One evening, we went to our favorite spot on Gull Lake – the place where the tall north wood trees meet the rocks on the shore of the water. The breeze and the light were perfect, and the simplicity of this shoot echoed our surroundings – being outdoors in the north woods, enjoying the company of those we love in that warm summer light, as we always remembered it. Near the water, the trees make the perfect frame of the lake where we spent our summers growing up. I am always inspired by the view from that humble vantage point, the way the light glistens on the water, the beautiful trees and wild greenery, and the easy feel of the summer wind. As the summer is winding down and will soon be turning into fall, this session is indicative of taking full advantage of these final weeks of nature-in-bloom, warm breeze, and soft evening light. ” – Meghan
