” “To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best day and night to make you like everybody else means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight and never stop fighting.” – E.E. Cummings

I love the movement wind creates in a photograph, and how even the slightest change in its course initiates dramatic changes in posing and composition. When I set out to create these intimate portraits in Cannon Beach, I wanted the final images to communicate a sense of freedom and movement, inspired by how the wind moves about with purpose. Culture puts a lot of pressure on women to appear perfect and I’ve observed that most women who book with me come in front of the camera already ashamed and feeling not good enough. Therefore I’ve made it my main focus to help all people feel lovely and worthy on camera, in direct opposition of the intolerable standards culture has created. On this windy day at the Oregon coast, my friend Debbie and I embraced the joy that self acceptance brings ; and the freedom to move about with the wind. We only have our one life, we may as well be ourselves and live courageously. ” – Jenni
